Creating Your Meditation Sanctuary
When you meditate...where do you focus your attention? Do you focus on the breath, do you follow the sensations in the body, do you focus on the third eye?
In intuition medicine we place our attention on a specific spot in the brain, that is located in the hypothalmus gland. This is the space in the brain that controls how we respond to inner and outter stimuli, and it is also the location where addictive signals go off in the brain. From here, we create a meditation sanctuary.
This meditation sanctuary is the space where we can enter into present time. From present time, we can create affirmations that can redirect the brain to new patterns. We can expand our consciousness, enter a timeless space, and use our imagination to create our desired reality.
So how to create a meditation sanctuary? When you enter into meditation, locate the space where these 4 points connect:
1. The 2 temples of your forehead
2. The soft spot on top of your head
3. Your Third eye
Where all those spots meet - this is where you will locate your meditation sanctuary.
From here you can imagine a sacred space that is your special place. It can be a cabin or yurt in the woods, it can be a castle or a place in nature. YOU get to CREATE it, in your IMAGINATION. Think about if it is indoors or outdoors. Are there trees, flowers, or a body of water nearby? How does it smell? How does it feel to be there? Find that safe and cozy space that is just for you...and be in your mediation sanctuary.
In all of the meditations I do - I bring people to this sacred space. From here, we can use our imagination to create new neuropathways in the brain. We can restructure old belief patterns and behaviors, and begin to have more power over our reality.
Try it out! What does your meditation sanctuary look like? Mine is in a yurt, with lots of pillows, sheepskin rugs, and a river flowing by. I will spare you the rest of the details, but suffice to say, I can go there...any time I need...and get to access more of my power and presence.
Enjoy!
